For the BandLab NME Awards 2022, inside out set out to maximise coverage across print, online and broadcast to maintain the NME Awards’ reputation as an unmissable night in music. We were also responsible for the talent booking and curation at the event, ensuring a high standard of exciting names were present on the night.
NME Awards
The BandLab NME Awards return to London’s O2 Academy Brixton for the wildest night in global music, two years after the last edition.
OVERVIEW
STRATEGY
Because of the two year break between the last NME Awards, it was crucial to maximise excitement at media by securing consistent news coverage leading up to the event. We implemented this through a consistent timeline of news announcements around performers, hosts, nominations and honorary awards regularly up until the night.
On site, we effectively navigated COVID-19 restrictions when accommodating talent and media, ensuring the show was run safely and smoothly.
Post-event coverage was secured across national print media, including full page takeovers in the major showbiz sections in the days following the event, and a strong standard of talent on the red carpet ensured maximum coverage across both entertainment and fashion press.
We also ensured to broaden coverage across broadcast, securing a live ITV London interview on the red carpet with performers and award winners Griff & Sigrid, as well as news, interviews and highlights across BBC Radio 1, 2, 6Music & Radio X.
TALENT BOOKING
We invited a high-level of talent, across music, comedy, film & TV, broadcast and more, tailoring the list of names to match NME’s rich legacy in pop culture, and secured some of the biggest names in entertainment.
On the night, we were the point of contact for all talent, managing over 70 people plus their teams and ensuring they had everything beforehand for smooth running of the show.
Talent booked for the event included the hosts Daisy May Cooper and Lady Leshurr, as well as guest presenters including Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Adam Lambert, Laura Whitmore, Little Simz, Mabel, Ghetts, Jessie & Lennie Ware, Mae Martin, Sadiq Khan and more.
